SO we've got the decor covered. Onto the food! We had a taco bar setup for the party and it was a lot of fun. It also made it easy to cover a variety of different dietary requirements (vegetarians, no-red meat, picky toddlers). Best of all, it wasn't too expensive, and most of the dishes could be made ahead so the day of the party wasn't too stressful.
Here's a Sample Menu
Ground Chicken Taco Filling
Black Bean and Corn Salad (also doubles as a vegetarian filling)
Pico De Gallo
Garlic Cilantro Coleslaw
Tortillas (3 per person)
Restaurant Style Mexican Rice
Puff Pastry Churros
Virgin Margaritas (With a bottle of rum on the side)
Coconut Lime Cake
And yes, shooting photos of the food after people have dug into it isn't ideal, neither is the evening lighting, but eating hot, yummy, food comes before blogging, right? It's the taste that matters. If you're wondering what that square cut dish is in the first photo, it's my mother in law's baklava, a real labour of love. Speaking of baklava, I think there's more in the fridge so I'm going to go now...
